Are we having fun yet?

My life is so strange.

- I see the next patient's name is Pondrus. For real.  At the risk of sounding prejudiced or something, I was expecting to see a large, sassy black woman when I walked into the exam room. Nope. Tiny, nervous white gal.  Probably weighs 110lb soaking wet.  Irony, thy name is Pondrus.

- Seeing a chick with kidney disease. She has anemia, which is a common complication. (It's truly bizarre how much your kidneys control your life, but I digress). Seriously, her hemoglobin is 7.3 (normal is >12). She asks if she can donate blood. No lie. I told her that she could make a withdrawal from the blood bank; but no, she could not donate blood.  When asked why she wished to donate blood, she replied that she wanted a t-shirt. *facepalm*

- My friend and I were discussing nail polish. I like the crackle effect polishes, 'cause it makes chipped nail polish look intentional.  (I guess that indicates my level of committment to maintaining any regimen - painted nails, dyed hair, etc.)  Anyways, I don't paint my nails, and neither does she. But she informed me that she lets the pedophile paint her toenails on occasion. 0_o

Agree with the above statement.

And I have the crackle on my toes--it is great for hiding chips!

I do my toes, even though I seldom do my fingers (because I cant keep polish from chipping, even peeling for more than a day--ever, salon, me, nothing), because it's just fun to look down and see my colored toes!

Heehee!

I don't know how people get polish to stay for more than a day. It instantly chips.

Actually Sally Hanson launched a new product this year which is essentially a sheet of vinyl that you put on your nail--it's like a solid strip of nail polish. Right now the colors are a bit silly, but they have a cute red and black plaid for Christmas that just looks great. LASTS FOR ALMOST 10 DAYS. Not kidding. Amazing, fast, easy. Price of a salon ($10.00) but it LASTS 10 DAYS with no chipping. At the end of 10 days it starts to curl at the edges so I remove it with polish remover. I've used their fishnet (sounds weirder than it is) and it looks work safe.

I'm hoping that their popularity will prompt them to do more colors.

I wonder if Pondrus' parents knew what word the name resembles. Or if they did it on purpose, kind of naming a kid 'Loser' except spelling it 'Luzer' to be sneaky.

and, I totally sympathize w/ the laziness - I can't stand looking at even a slightly chipped manicure so to avoid having to repaint my nails 3+ a week, I both splash out for more expensive brands (it seriously is worth it, if only in terms of 30 minute blocks per week stuck on the couch unable to touch anything)..............or I cheat and use a neutral color or layer OPI glitter nail polish (the kind w/ the big chunks) on top. It's like an optical illusion, you don't notice the chips with everything else being so distracting. haha.

Luzer! That is awesome! I do wonder where they came up with that name for her...

Chipped polish makes me crazy too! Glitter's a good cover for a multitude of ills. ;-)
