100 random things that make me happy: #6

It must be summertime in the south.

I love a good afternoon thunderstorm. The advent of the storm is heralded by the rolling rumble of thunder in the distance. The sound gets closer and closer, the sky gets darker and darker; then suddenly the heavens open and empty their contents in a torrent. The rain pours, the thunder crashes, lightening streaks across the sky...the world narrows down to a single point. The rain curtains off the world and the noise of the storm drowns it out. Time seems to pause for just a moment. Sadly, such storms are also terribly brief. The rain slows, the sky lightens, the thunder rolls onward. The spell is broken and the world keeps moving. Experiencing these storms always makes me happy.

It's good napping weather, that's for sure.

I used to sit outside under the garage or on the porch just to be closer to the experience. I know exactly what you're talking about!

I do that, too...go sit out on the porch to soak it all in.

'...Sadly, such storms are also terribly brief. The rain slows, the sky lightens...' You should be lving here at the mo'...we had a month's worth of rain in one day...and it's still raining now!

I too love watching thunderstorms...they are beautiful...sadly for me Buster hates them and I have to spend my time consoling him! :O)

I'm glad storms don't bother my pup. She did wake me up barking the other night which is exceedingly rare. Turns ours the storm brought down a giant limb from across the street, no damage but enough racket to put her on guard! Of course, I didn't hear a thing except her and just rolled on over. XD
