Aw, you. I get it. People who become doctors do it to stop things like this from happening, and when you can't... It's not self important at all. But sometimes those things do happen. And it was happening whether you caught it or not. I know you know all these things. I feel compelled to say them, just the same way you're compelled to feel this way even knowing you did everything you could. The cardiologist was right. It was a good catch. Sadly of a not-good thing, but there will be better days/weeks/holidays than this one.

Oh sweetheart, that's such a sad story - no wonder it got you down. You're only human. How terribly sad for that poor couple.

But the fact you're not well is probably making it all worse. You're tired and ill - when you feel better you'll be less down about it. It wasn't your fault - at least because of you that mom knew everyone had done their very best for her baby and she wasn't left with any 'what ifs' that might have happened if nobody had diagnosed it and the baby had died suddenly without her being able to get medical treatment for him.
