Answer for question 4160.

Who was your first best friend? Are you still in contact with them? If not, what would you say to them if you could talk to them today?
My first best friend, or the first person I thought of that way, was a little girl I met my first day in kindergarten. We went through most of elementary school together. She caused me so much heartache as a child. I didn't understand why she was so mean to me, why she told lies to me and about me. We were probably in third grade when I was crying myself to sleep about her again and I told my mom that she was so mean to me because she wasn't happy with herself. While she wasn't truly a good friend to me at all, she taught me a valuable lesson about human nature and the nature of true friendship. I learned that you have to find your own happiness and not look for it in someone else. I have no idea what happened to her once we went on to different schools. I hope she has found happiness.

I have thought about this and cannot remember having a BF in infants and junior school...I just remember being in a group of about five or six. But at high school I did make a good friend with whom I kept in contact for a quite a few years but our lives went in separate ways and by about 25 years of age we'd just become occasional friends...

However, when I was 19 I met a friend who has become my v.v.v.BFF... We've been through a v.great deal together and as I write this I'm spending Christmas with her and our husbands! (Who have also become best friends...) And it's FORTY-FOUR years since I was 19!!!!
